LotusWorks Joins Dempsey
For Star Mazda Doubleheader at Portland
INDIANAPOLIS, July 20 - Andersen Racing's Peter Dempsey, who is currently
third in the point standings of the Star Mazda Championship presented by
Goodyear, is pleased to announce that LotusWorks will join his group of marketing
partners for the series' doubleheader at Portland (Ore.) International Raceway
next weekend, July 26-27.
LotusWorks is a global provider of technical, construction and management
services. Its customers include a range of process manufacturing industries,
commercial and industrial construction companies, electric utilities, power
project developers, financial institutions and installation contractors around the
world. It is comprised of three subsidiaries: Lotus Construction Management
(LotusCM), Lotus Construction Services (Lotus CS) and Lotus Technical Services
(LotusTS).
"LotusWorks is happy and excited to support Peter Dempsey in the Star Mazda
Championship," said Steve Ostrowski, president of LotusCM, the construction
management division of LotusWorks, and president of LotusGroup's North American
operations. "We view this as an excellent opportunity to get involved with a
young and talented Irish driver. It is also a great way to thank all our
customers for being part of LotusWorks. We would like to wish Peter the best of
luck."
"It's great that LotusWorks has agreed to support me for the Portland event,"
said Dempsey, 22, of Ashbourne, County Meath, Ireland. "It's exciting to
have an Irish-American company on board. Hopefully I can impress them and give
everyone an enjoyable weekend.
"LotusWorks is hosting about 40 people at the races over the weekend, so it
will be down to me to supply the entertainment," Dempsey added. "Hopefully I
can get good results for them and Andersen Racing, and move up even higher in
the point standings."
LotusWorks was founded by Fergal Broder, its chief executive officer, in 1989
in Sligo, Ireland. It opened its first office in the United States in 2000,
and it now has a strong presence in America as well as Europe. Its regional
offices are located in Sligo, Ireland; London; Rochdale, Mass.; Westborough,
Mass.; Vancouver, Wash.; Port Alberni, B.C., Canada and Shanghai, China.
The Portland doubleheader marks the fourth and fifth races in the 12-race
2008 Star Mazda Championship. Dempsey has one third-place finish and two
fourth-place finishes so far this year.
The Star Mazda series is the featured series for the weekend, which is billed
as the 2008 Mazda Grand Prix of Portland presented by Herzog-Meier. It is
part of the inaugural Northwest Speed Week.
Dempsey, a rookie in the series, will take to the 1.9-mile road course for
the first time on Thursday for testing. Two practice sessions are on the docket
on Friday at 10 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Qualifying for Saturday's race is from
10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., with that day's 45-minute race starting at 2 p.m. On
Sunday qualifying will be held at 10 a.m., with the second 45-minute race
getting off to a standing start at 2 p.m. All times are local.
Both races will be shown on SPEED from noon to 2 p.m. Eastern time on
Saturday, Aug. 9.
Ireland's Center Jewellers.ie, Quayside.ie, and Trojan Complete IT Solutions
are supporting Dempsey's initial foray onto the American racing scene this
year in addition to LotusWorks. His Palmetto, Fla.-based team, the official
development team of IndyCar's Rahal Letterman Racing, is sponsored by Allied
Building Products Corp.
